What’s next?

Southdale achievements to date:

Planning applications for the next phase of development (PDF) were lodged in May 2017 (West Lothian Council references – LIVE/0467/MSC/17 and LIVE/0466/MSC/17), including:

  • 270 additional new homes, including:
    • 65 affordable homes, incorporating amenity housing for over 55’s for rent, the first significant offering in Armadale in more than a decade
    • A variety of private housing including starter homes, bungalows,  2 and 3-bedroom, terraced, semi-detached and detached houses
  • A neighbourhood centre (pictured above), including a:
    • Pharmacy and post office – Dears Pharmacy has already applied for a licence to open a pharmacy in one of the units, offering the full range of NHS pharmaceutical services, with an instore post office
    • Dental surgery
    • Veterinary surgery
    • Coffee shop
  • Dedicated landscaped open space for community use
  • A potential additional NHS health centre for Armadale – alleviating pressure on the current GP practice which is heavily overcapacity


362 houses have been delivered by Taylor Wimpey and Bellway in the first phases of development at Southdale. They have reported them as being among some of their fastest selling sites in Scotland.

Taylor Wimpey’s most recent development of 85 houses at Ferrier Way ranges from two and three bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses to three, four and five bedroom detached family houses. This follows on from the first phase of development of 86 houses by the housebuilder at Ferrier Path.

Bellway’s most recent development of 85 houses at Southdale Meadows ranges from two and three bedroom terraced to three and four bedroom detached houses. This follows on from the first phase of development of 106 houses by the housebuilder at Hanlin Park.
