At the Development Management Committee of West Lothian Council on 4th June a new Legal Agreement was approved by the Council (the Section 75) for the Southdale development, which removes the obstacles for the delivery of the new primary school for Armadale, allowing it to be progressed.
The Agreement has now been signed by both the developer, EWP Investments Ltd and West Lothian Council, and the school land will be transferred to the Council during the month of July. It is currently anticipated that within the next month, Southdale will contribute an additional £2.02M towards primary education bringing the total contributed to date to over £3.9M. Southdale has also committed to ensuring that all utility and drainage services to serve the new school will be completed well before opening in August 2016.
Over the next few months, development will be underway on the construction of the next 170 houses by Taylor Wimpey and Bellway and a private children’s nursery operated by Wee Gems, planning permission permitting.
The construction of the “The Rowan Tree”, a Marston’s pub restaurant, is set to commence in September 2014 and scheduled to open in early 2015 and additional commercial interests will be announced shortly. Southdale is a true community in the making bringing benefits to the existing community and newcomers to the area.
